2015 ArtWalk Ventura

Search homes for sale in Ventura CountyThe 2015 ArtWalk Ventura is one of the most popular events of its kind in the area.  This year marks its 22nd anniversary.  Thousands of people come from miles around just to be a part of ArtWalk.  And it’s run completely by volunteers.

Galleries, shops and art centers have opened their doors for the 2015 ArtWalk Ventura.  Additionally, several PODS (Portable On Demand Storage) have been transformed into pop-up shops and galleries to showcase local artists.  This year’s Artist of Distinction is Michele Chapin.  An arts activist for the last 30 years, Michele is a teacher as well as a sculptor.  Stop by “The Avenue” to chat with this wonderful local talent.

The Bowl Hop is a treasured ArtWalk tradition.  Local artists make and donate beautifully handcrafted bowls.  Purchase one for $25.  Then, take it with you to any participating restaurant this weekend (July 18 & 19).  You will then be able to sample some of the best cuisine Ventura has to offer.  All proceeds benefit the Project Understanding Food Pantry.  Bowls are available for pre-sale at the Potter’s Guild or at the 2015 ArtWalk Ventura.  But, be aware.  Bowls are limited.  They run out quickly.  Pre-sale is your best bet to grab one.

I’m sure you have heard that America finally lifted their embargo against Cuba earlier this year.  To celebrate, artists have been creating a Havana to Ventura mural at 50 W Main St.  Several artists have put hundreds of hours into working on this.  They will finish things up over the 2015 ArtWalk Ventura weekend.  Come watch them work.
