Ventura Holiday Blood Drive 2016

Help save the life of as many as three strangers by donating to the Ventura Holiday Blood Drive 2016. Get a $15 gift card for Winchester Grill as a bonus.Christmas isn’t the only time to give presents.  Give the gift of life at the Ventura Holiday Blood Drive 2016.  According to BloodSource.org, 40,000 pints of blood get used throughout the country every day.  One blood donation can save as many as three lives.  It only takes three teaspoons to save the life of a baby.  Will you be a hero for a stranger?

What: Ventura Holiday Blood Drive 2016
Where: United Blood Services (2223 Eastman Ave Ste A, Ventura, CA)
When: Now through Dec 31st, 2016
Contact: United Blood Services (800) 715-3699 or via email

Ventura Holiday Blood Drive 2016

Click here to search for Ventura County homes for saleThere are just three more days to participate in the Ventura Holiday Blood Drive 2016.  Schedule an appointment right now to visit the United Blood Services office in Ventura.  For your one pint of blood, you receive a $15 certificate to use at Winchester’s Grill & Saloon located in downtown Ventura.  It only takes a little bit of your time (and blood) to become someone’s hero, as well as a hero to their family.

Tips for Preparing to Donate Blood

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – Before you donate to the Ventura Holiday Blood Drive 2016, drink plenty of water.  That means plain old H2O.  No coffee, soda or tea.  Caffeine restricts blood vessels.  You want them to be nice and plump to make the donation process easier.  Only water will do that for you.

What to wear – Next, make sure you you dress comfortably.  Keep sleeves short and/or loose for easy roll-up.  The staff needs to access your veins for donation.  As long as your sleeve rolls up a couple inches above your elbow, you’re good.

What to bring – Finally, you should bring along a list of medications you are currently taking.  These include both prescribed (including birth control pills) and over-the-counter medication (if applicable).  Also, don’t forget your ID.  If you have a donor card, great.  If not, a current driver’s license or other photo ID can be used.

This year, give the gift of life.  Make your appointment now for the Ventura Holiday Blood Drive 2016.  You only have a few days left to take advantage of the $15 gift card for Winchester’s Grill.  However, even if you miss out on that incentive, you should still plan on donating.  You could be saving someone’s life.

Ventura 2016 Parade of Lights

Click here to search for Ventura County homes for saleThe Ventura Harbor Village hosts their Ventura 2016 Parade of Lights on December 16th and 17th.  This year’s theme is “Parks on Parade” in honor of our National Parks’ 100th birthday.  The parade starts at 6pm on Friday and Saturday evenings near the public launch ramp.  The participants make two passes around the harbor.  Each boat passing through the harbor showcases a different national park or landmark.  Both evenings include a fabulous fireworks display at the end of the parade.  After the parade, come to the Village Main Lawn for carnival rides and plenty of games.

On Saturday, December 17th, you may want to come out a little early.  That’s because the Ventura Harbor Village transforms into their Winter Wonderland and Holiday Marketplace.  Carolers sing traditional holiday tunes.  Santa and the Mrs. make themselves available for pictures.  Even the reindeer traveled all the way from the North Pole to join the fun!  Local vendors sell their one-of-a-kind holiday merchandise.  It’ll be a great time to finish up any last minute Christmas shopping you may have.

Want something fun to do for the holidays that the whole family can enjoy?  Come to the Ventura 2016 Parade of Lights.  Admission and parking are both free.  The memories, on the other hand, are priceless.  Happy holidays!
