Channel Islands Fairytales in the Park 2018
Gypsies in the Trunk puts a very modern twist on classic fairytales. This all-volunteer troupe performs Channel Islands Fairytales in the Park 2018 at Harbor View Park on the first Sunday of every month from now until September. While molded for the younger crowd, grown-ups will delight in these master retellings of fairytale classics, too. They also perform at 11:30 am in Westlake Village (Foxfield Park) and 4 pm in Simi Valley (Rancho Simi Community Park) on June 2nd, July 7th, Aug 4th and Sept 1st. And, they perform at 11:30 am in Camarillo (Valley Lindo Park) and 4 pm in Ventura (Barranca Vista Park) on June 9th, July 14th, Aug 11th and Sept 8th.
Every performance is provided to the public absolutely free of charge. However, a donation is suggested to help pay offset the costs of costumes and props. Since these shows are at outdoor venues, organizers suggest you wear sunscreen and hats. Feel free to bring along a picnic with snacks, water, and other goodies. And you might want to bring a chair or blanket from home for your comfort. Seating will not be provided at any venue. Each play lasts approximately 45 minutes. Long enough to maintain intrigue but short enough so the young ones don’t get bored. It really is fun for everyone.

Channel Islands Safe Boating Expo 2018
The Red Cross, Channel Islands Harbor Patrol, Oxnard Police, National Park, Fire Department, and, of course, the US Coast Guard (among others) plan on setting up informational booths at the Channel Islands Safe Boating Expo 2018. While you’re there, take a tour of first responder vehicles, including the 87 foot USCG cutter. To take a tour of the Coast Guard’s vessel, guests must reserve a time slot first. To do so, visit the Safe Boating Expo website here. Make sure you and your party arrive at the Training Room 30 minutes before your scheduled tour time to check in.
Bring your own watercraft and let the Coast Guard inspect it to make sure it’s up to snuff for safety. First responders from various local departments lead live safety demonstrations throughout the day as well. The information they provide is priceless but you get it absolutely free of charge!
Have you or your family members outgrown their safety jackets? Are your boat flares past their “best to use by” date? Swap out old life vests for new ones (while supplies last). Drop off old flares and receive a discount on the purchase of new ones. Safety always comes first!
Get ready for all your summer boating activities now. Visit the Channel Islands Safe Boating Expo 2018 with your entire family.
