Ventura Pirates Day 2019
Captain Hook. Captain Jack Sparrow. Maybe even Captain Morgan (who knows?). All the captains, their crew, and a few others might be found roaming around Harbor Village on the afternoon of June 1st for Ventura Pirates Day 2019. Village visitors will see swashbuckling feats live in action. There will be sword fighting, a bucking shark, a “bouncy” kracken (for the little kids), and a rockin’ pirate ship to climb. Get your face painted. Or try some henna art. Hold a live tropical bird in your hands. And if you see Tinkerbell, clap your hands together really fast to make sure she stays alive. So much to see and do!
Three professional pirate shows take the main stage throughout the afternoon. Shop the various boutiques in the village for special Pirates Day-themed deals. For example, Lost in Socks hosts a free pirate tattoo station. Barefoot Boutique offers free pirate-themed crafts projects. Paint your own pirate medallion at VC Potters Guild. And color mermaid pages for free at the Mermaid Gallery.
All this fun really works up an appetite. If you dress like a pirate, you’ll receive a discount at Wild Local Seafood or Le Petit Cafe. Cruise the harrrrr-bor. Ride the carousel for just $2 when you’re dressed as a pirate. For the more adventurous, take a turn in a themed escape room for just $25 (discount code: PIRATE19). On June 1st, “X” marks the spot for pirate fun. And that “X” is located at Ventura Harbor Village.

Ventura Saturday Fisherman’s Market: It’s What’s for Dinner!
Living on the Pacific Ocean coastline means that Southern Californians enjoy the freshest fish available. Since 1982, Andrea’s Seafood Restaurant has served residents and visitors to this beloved Ventura County hotspot. Their clam chowder and hand battered fish and chips made them a worldwide phenomenon. But that’s just two of the reasons Andrea’s consistently ranks #1 as Ventura’s best fresh seafood market. So, it should come as no surprise that their Ventura Saturday Fisherman’s Market brings in seafood lovers by the droves.
What: Ventura Saturday Fisherman’s Market
Where: Andrea’s Seafood Restaurant (1449 Spinnaker Dr)
When: Every Saturday, 7 am until 10 am or sold out
Contact: Andrea’s Seafood (805) 218-4888
Ventura Saturday Fisherman’s Market
Starting at 7 am every Saturday morning, the ocean side of Andrea’s Seafood Restaurant becomes the Saturday Fisherman’s Market. Only the freshest caught seafood winds up here for the public to purchase. Several local fishermen set up booths filled with fresh fish, clams, mussels, crab, and more. Whatever seafood you crave for your Saturday evening meal with the family is on display here.
Some of the fish up for grabs most Saturdays includes sea bass, tuna, halibut, rockfish, and even sea cucumbers. Since the selection depends solely on what is freshly caught, it varies from week to week. People from all over Ventura and Los Angeles Counties make the trek to Ventura harbor every Saturday for this market in particular. Most of it tends to sell out before the market ends. So, we suggest getting there as early as possible.
Admission to the market is absolutely free. So is the parking. The market operates on a first come/first served basis. Once the fish runs out, you’ll be out of luck. However, Andrea’s operates its fish market inside the restaurant every single day. If you miss out on their Saturday Fisherman’s Market, go inside Andrea’s to pick up your fresh seafood. The interior market stays open from 11 am to 5 pm Sunday through Thursday and 11 am to 6 pm every Friday and Saturday.
