Ventura Harbor Village

The Ventura Harbor houses a carousel and arcade that the kids will love. The carousel has over 30 animal varieties and is the only one like this in the entire county. With an outing full of riding the carousel, playing all of the arcade games, and walking along the village, a perfect addition is stopping to get ice cream or a yummy pineapple dole whip!

You can also spend the afternoon out on kayaks, or pedal boats by renting them for fun on the water. Head to the beach for fun in the sand and sun, it’s a cherished Ventura experience. Take a walk along the promenade and find yourself right next to the ocean. Other activities available include the Channel Islands Visitors Center, where you can see interesting exhibits and featured films, and the Island Packers where you can take a trip to the channel. Here you can see dolphins, and whales. You can also hike the islands. It is truly a must have experience in Ventura.

An additional special touch the kids will love here in Ventura County is Marina Park. Complete with a huge pirate ship and built-in zip-line, the area also has a playground, and areas for a grill-out or picnic. As you can read, our area is packed full of good times, and plenty to do to keep your life active and busy. Ventura County Halloween 2014 Events

Kids can wear their costumes for more than one day when they attend just about any of these Ventura County Halloween 2014 events between now and the 31st. Photo Courtesy @Stendec - Dreamstime Stock Photos_2Halloween is just two weeks from tomorrow!  Have you already got your costume ready to go or are you still trying to figure out what to wear?  The Ventura County community won’t let you limit the fun to just one day.  There are several Ventura County Halloween 2014 events going on between now and October 31st that you can be a part of.

What: Reign of Terror Haunted House
When: October 17th & 18th 7pm to 11pm
Where: Janss Marketplace (above Gold’s Gym), 197 N Moorpark Rd, Thousand Oaks
Admission: $17 general admission, $25 for Express Line, $5 for kids (lights on)

Venture through 70 rooms of frightening terror.  A mixture of (mostly) live actors and animatronics will keep you on your toes.  There will be a special “lights on” tour through this haunted house especially for the kids.  Any adult that accompanies a child on the “lights on” tour will get in absolutely free.

What: Halloween Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest doesn’t always have to be about beer.  Sure, there will be some fine handcrafted brews on hand for guests ages 21+ to purchase if the need arises.  However, with a zombie pumpkin garden and staff dressed up as zombies, there is much more going on.  Kids are welcome to show up in costume.

What: Halloween Carnival
When: October 24th 3pm to 5:30pm

Things start off with a costume parade at 3:30pm.  Try your luck at the ring toss, penny toss, treasure hunt or witch golf.  Halloween characters will be passing out candy to the little trick-or-treaters along the hiking trails.  If you bring three canned items, you will receive two free bounce house tickets.  Cheer Burger and La Dolce Vida food trucks will be on hand if you get hungry.  This is event is appropriate for kids ages 2-10.

What: Halloween Craft for Kids
When: October 28th 4pm to 5pm
Where: Platt Branch Library, 23600 Victory Blvd, Woodland Hills

The library is more than musty old books.  Get creative with a fun Halloween craft especially designed for kids.  Any child wearing their Halloween costume is eligible for a prize.

What: Halloween Party
When: October 30th 3:30pm to 5:30pm

You won’t want to miss this party.  Listen to spooky stories, create your very own glow-in-the-dark craft project and even make some ooey-gooey slime.  Eeeeeeeewwww!  Perfect for kids ages 4 and up.

What: Trunk or Treat
When: October 31st 6pm to 9pm
Where: Ventura First Assembly of God, 346 N Kimball Rd, Ventura

Trunk or Treat has become a popular alternative to taking your children around door-to-door, begging for treats on Halloween.  Ventura First Assembly of God will be hosting their Trunk or Treat event on Halloween night.  Candy isn’t the only treat to enjoy here, though.  There will be a barrel train, a bounce house, food, family-friendly games and even face painting.  Your kids will have so much fun, they won’t want to leave!

The entire Ventura County community is invited to share in any and all of the Ventura County Halloween 2014 events listed above.  You’ll be putting your costume to good use this year.  Happy Halloween!
