Ventura Harbor Village Mermaid Month 2019

Mermaid folklore stretches all the way back to ancient Assyrian times (roughly 2500 BC). Christopher Columbus reported seeing them while sailing the Caribbean in the 1400s. One played the title character in Hans Christian Anderson’s 1836 tome “The Little Mermaid” as well as the 1989 movie based on the HCA novel. Celebrate this ancient mystical creature in all its glory during Ventura Harbor Village Mermaid Month 2019.

Ventura Harbor Village Mermaid Month 2019 includes several fun activities, games, specials, and so much more throughout March, including meet and greets with a live mermaid.

Ventura Harbor Village Mermaid Month Eats & Treats

When you get hungry during Mermaid Month, grab a Sea Dog at The Parlor. This ooey-gooey, cheesy hot dog gets topped with tasty bacon bits. Or chow down on the Merman’s Fish Burger, only available during March. For dessert? How does a Sea Monster oreo shake sound? Coastal Cone serves up Mermaid cones (a fish cone with multi-colored sprinkles on top) as well as Pineapple Mermaid Floats and Mermaid’s Dream Sundae. For the adults, Harbor Cove Cafe added an Aquaman Cocktail to their menu. This delicious drink consists of Soju Gin, Blue Curacao, lemon, and soda water.

Visit the Ventura Harbor Village anytime throughout March to celebrate Mermaid Month. Once it ends, so do the mermaid-inspired specials.

Ventura Restaurant Week

Dine out at a Ventura restaurant Nov 4-8, 2012 for Ventura Restaurant Week. $2 of each meal benefits Ventura County FOOD Share. It seems that America has an absolute love affair with food.  In Ventura County, we are lucky enough to be exposed to a wide variety of foods from all over the world.  Chances are, if you want it, there’s a restaurant nearby that serves it.  To that end, the 3rd Annual Ventura Restaurant Week comes to the City of Ventura November 4-8, 2012.

This year’s theme for Ventura Restaurant Week is “Farm to Table”.  Locally grown and produced food means less stress on the environment and more money into the local Ventura economy.  Throughout the week, Ventura area farmers will be visiting the different restaurants participating in Restaurant Week to meet with diners as well as discuss the benefits of shopping locally.  During Restaurant Week, patrons will have the opportunity to dine at some of the area’s finest restaurants for a discounted price: either $25 per person for a multi-course meal or $25 for two people.  This year, a lunch option has been included for the first time.  For just $15 per person, diners can enjoy an entree plus an appetizer or dessert at participating restaurants.

To kick things off, the Ventura Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Taste 2012 party on the evening of November 1st.  Guests will get to sample some of the fine delicacies being offered by Ventura restaurants that will be participating in Restaurant Week.  There will also be live entertainment, demonstrations from local chefs and much, much more.  The cost to attend is $50 in advance or $60 at the door.  Chamber members can purchase their tickets at a discounted price of $35 per person.  To secure your tickets now, please call Charleen at (805) 643-7222.

Ventura Restaurant Week 2012 - November 4-8, 2012Ventura Restaurant Week is not only about promoting local food.  It’s also about helping those who struggle to put food on the table.  While you are enjoying your lunch or dinner, you can feel good in the knowledge that $2 of every meal served will benefit Ventura County FOOD Share, a non-profit organization that distributes more than 9 million pounds of food to individuals and families in need.

For a complete list of restaurants participating in the 2012 Ventura Restaurant Week, please visit their website.  If you enjoy good food and dining out, make it a point to visit a Ventura restaurant November 4th through 8th.  You’ll have a great time and get to help an amazing organization.  You may even get to meet the Ventura farmer who produced the food that is being served to you as well!
