Downtown Ventura’s Walk It Wednesdays

The Monday through Friday work week feels like it drags on and on sometimes. How do you break up the monotony? How about a stroll on Downtown Ventura’s Walk It Wednesdays?

If you love food and enjoy a nice drink every so often, consider breaking up the work week with Downtown Ventura's Walk It Wednesdays. Judge at least two different locations on their appetizers and drinks over a two week period and you might win $50.

What: Downtown Ventura’s Walk It Wednesdays
Where: Main St Ventura
When: Every Wednesday, from 4 pm to 7 pm
Contact: Downtown Ventura (805) 260-7023 or via email

Downtown Ventura’s Walk It Wednesdays

Search Ventura County homes for salePerform a little mid-week pick-me-up with Walk It Wednesdays. Every Wednesday night, visit any of the ten participating Downtown Ventura restaurants for a delicious meal with your friends or significant other. Compare the fare offered by at least two of these restaurants over the course of two weeks. (Unless you enjoy two dinners in one evening. No judgment here.) The only judgment needed is your opinion about each appetizer and drink you partake in per visit. Yes, Walk It Wednesdays actually is a fun game of “who offers the best apps and drinks”. Every other week, one judge receives $50.

How to Participate

First, choose at least two venues over the course of two weeks. Or stop by a couple each week for just appetizers and drinks. (Or maybe dinner at Cafe Fiore and drinks/apps at The Saloon. Just a little food for thought.) Each location offers a selection of $6 drink specials and $6 to $8 appetizers. Keep drinks and appetizers in the same family for judging (rum-based drink vs rum-based drink and cheesy appetizer vs cheesy appetizer). This keeps the judging fair. Feel free to stop in at any of the boutiques along Main St during Walk It Wednesdays, too.

Before you partake in the evening’s choices, take a photo. When you decide which ones are your favorites, upload the photos to your Instagram feed using the hashtags #WalkItWednesday and #MyDowntownVentura. Don’t have an Instagram account? Visit the Downtown Ventura website here to cast your vote.

Who Benefits from Bowl of Thanks?

Two local charities receive donations from money raised through the Bowl of Thanks event: the Humane Society of Ventura County and the Ojai Valley Family Shelter. The Humane Society in Ojai is Ventura County’s very first “no-kill” shelter. They provide food and shelter for neglected animals. None of the animals in their care ever get euthanized. But their care comes at a cost. They rely heavily on donations to continue to operate.

The Ojai Valley Family Shelter provides food and shelter to homeless individuals and families in Ventura County. Even through scheduled power outages (like last week), volunteers band together to make sure people get fed. They even bring a mobile shower facility to those in need in the field. They also rely on donations from the public to keep these services open to those in need. So reserve your one-of-a-kind bowl for the Bowl of Thanks event today.
