World Oceans Day Ventura 2019

Approximately 71% of our planet is covered in water. Of that, oceans make up almost 97%. Our oceans help regulate the climate, sustains thousands of species of marine life (that we know of), and provides half of the planet’s oxygen supply. Yet, between 1970 and 2012, almost 50% of all known marine life died. Learn more about our symbiotic relationship with the sea by coming to World Oceans Day Ventura 2019 this weekend.

World Oceans Day Ventura 2019

Search Ventura County homes for salePaso Pacifico hosts World Oceans Day Ventura 2019 at Harbor Cove Beach this Friday, June 7th. To prove that learning can be fun, organizers created several games and hands-on exhibits for the public. In addition, world-class skater, surfer, and local ocean “hero” Peggy Oki talks about her devotion to the conservation of ocean life through things like the Origami Whales Project. Listen to live music from local bands like Cali Conscious. Snacks will be provided for purchase as well. Everyone’s encouraged to wear their favorite beach clothes. Make sure they include blue to show your support for the ocean.

Ventura Beach Cleanup

The Surfrider Foundation hosts World Oceans Day Beach Cleanup on Saturday, June 8th. From 9 am to 11 am, volunteers clean up the beachfront at Surfer’s Point and Ventura Pier. Anyone interested in participating simply needs to show up at the Ventura promenade (end of California St) before 9 am. They’ll supply everything you need to safely clean up the beaches. Just make sure you wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle (preferably reusable) with you to stay hydrated. Let’s save our beaches for generations to come!
