Millions of pounds of trash wash up on shorelines around the world each year. An Ocean Conservancy Report stated that 840,000 pounds ends up on California beaches alone. Not only is that excessive, but it’s absolutely avoidable. Unfortunately, we cannot control what other people do. What we can do is help keep our beaches clean. To do so, please consider participating in the Channel Islands Beach Cleanup 2025.

Channel Islands Beach Cleanup 2025
Want to help? All you need to do to participate in the beach cleanup is to show up at the Channel Islands Visitor Center by 9 am. A ranger will greet you and go over guidelines for the cleanup. All participants aged 18 or over must sign a waiver. Then, you will be free to comb the beach for trash. Parents or guardian must join and supervise anyone under the age of 18 years old. You must also sign the waiver on their behalf before they may join in the cleanup efforts.
Helpful Suggestions
Wear closed-toe shoes for your feet’s protection. For your skin, slather on that sunscreen. A hat also goes a long way to help protect you from the sun’s rays. Bring a bucket with you to place trash in and gloves to protect your hands from anything they come in contact with. Finally, hydrate. So, bring a refillable water bottle with you. If you do not have any of these things, some will be provided while supplies last. However, it helps when you bring whatever you can from home to help you throughout the morning.
