In just ten days, we celebrate Thanksgiving. Since it falls so late this year, that means less than four weeks to get your Christmas shopping done. In fact, just 26 shopping days left after Thanksgiving to be precise. While many people set out early for Black Friday deals or wait for Cyber Monday to get their shopping done, you can help out our local “Mom and Pop” shops by shopping Small Business Saturday Ventura on November 30th.

Instead of fighting off shoppers on Black Friday, keep dollars local by attending Small Business Saturday Ventura. Ventura Harbor Village, Findings Market, and Findings Flea all host fun events to encourage shopping local on November 30th.

Small Business Saturday Ventura

Ventura Harbor Village’s Small Business Saturday

First, make sure you stop at the Village’s visitor booth to sign up for their e-newsletter and receive a gift card to one of the shops. Spend $40 at Treasure Cove and receive a free gift. Make a candle, enjoy some refreshments, and shop for someone special at the Barefoot Boutique and you might win one of three $50 gift cards that they plan on giving away that Saturday. Many of the other shops located in the Village also offer serious discounts to shoppers only available on November 30th. 103.3 KRUZ FM broadcasts live from the village between 11 am and 1 pm. They promise some great giveaways while they are there. From 1 pm to 4 pm, come listen to the sounds of the Surfer Joe Band performing live on the Promenade Stage.

Findings Market Holiday Fair for Small Business Saturday

If you find yourself near Downtown Ventura (South Oak Street specifically), go to the Findings Market Holiday Fair More than 100 vendors set up shop along South Oak Street between 10 am and 5 pm. While you shop, enjoy live music, family-friendly activities, and refreshments. Findings Market’s sister store Findings Flea (located at 33 S Palm St) also hosts a Vintage Mini Market as well. Organizers of the Findings Market Holiday Fair encourage everyone to visit the mini-market as well.

Ventura County YMCA Thanksgiving Food Drive

It’s not too late to contribute to the Ventura County YMCA Thanksgiving Food Drive. Their locations in both Simi Valley and Westlake Village continue to accept donations through Wednesday, November 20th. Donate via one of four ways. Purchase an entire meal’s worth of items and drop them off. Buy a gift card at Ralph’s to help families buy their own meals. Donate some of the items that go into a Thanksgiving meal box. Or donate money (via check or credit card) to the YMCA to purchase any necessary items to complete the meal boxes.
