Thanksgiving Day takes place in just over two weeks from today. We have so much to be thankful for in our own lives. A warm bed. A roof over our heads. Food in our bellies. A loving family. But some people struggle with these every single day. Please consider helping others in need this holiday season by joining the Ventura Can-Tree 2023 event.

Ventura Can-Tree 2023
While giving food to those less fortunate than ourselves is soul-filling enough, why not add a little bit of fun and a splash of healthy competition into the mix? That’s what Can-Tree offers. Food Share of Ventura puts together this fun competition to bring in food donations for the holiday season by challenging companies, organizations, and individuals to create the best, most festive, and most creative Christmas “trees” made out of canned goods.
How to Participate
You can participate in one of several ways. First, talk to your boss or the head of your social club. Talk to them about sponsoring a tree. Or offer to buy and build a tree by donating $700 from your family or organization. In turn, this donation “buys” you the cans needed for your tree. Then, you and your group go to Figueroa Plaza to build and decorate your tree how you want.
Also, you can encourage your friends, family, and co-workers to donate money for the $700 buy-and-build option. Finally, ask for canned food donations from your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and local businesses to bring with you to build your tree. Each tree requires approximately 600 cans to complete. Make sure they are similar in size and shape to keep the structural integrity of the tree intact. Choose which option you wish to make your own and register today.
But Wait! There’s More!
We did say that this is a competition. Food Share of Ventura strongly encourages you to not only build a can-tree, but to decorate it as well. And use your imagination in the process. Why? Because an award may be at stake. Some of the awards include Top CAN-Crusher (the group who builds the most trees), Best Theme (two or more trees with a common theme), Best Decor (the tree with the best overall decorations), and People’s Choice (the one with the most likes on social media). But those are only a few of the 10 total awards ready to be handed out. So, if you want to join the fun and help out an incredibly worthy cause in the process, register for the Ventura Can-Tree event today!
