It’s officially March. For basketball lovers, this month is full of some phenomenal amazing college games. But in our town, it means something else: Ventura Mermaid Month.

Ventura Mermaid Month 2025
The entire month of March is dedicated to mermaids at Ventura Harbor Village. Some activities and specials take place all month long. However, there are two specific weekends you might want to note on your calendar: March 8th and 22nd. Organizers planned some very special events that any mermaid enthusiast needs to attend.
March 8th Events
Pirates sometimes reported seeing mermaids or sirens as far back as before Christopher Columbus. Nowadays, we know that those “mermaids” were actually manatees. It seems that pirates hears about the mermaids taking up residence at Ventura Harbor Village this month. They plan on docking their ship in the harbor on March 8th and invite every landlubber to climb aboard for a real adventure. While there, watch local artists bring mermaids to life in chalk. Las Posas Children’s Center hosts a kids craft corner with mermaid-themed art. And the Surfrider Foundation hosts an on-site booth filled with information about ocean conservation.
March 22nd Events
Lakeshore Learning sets up a kids crafting corner on March 22nd. For a small fee, build your own mermaid bracelet. Make sure to stop near Le Petit to watch as artists create works of art live in ice.
Both March 8th & March 22nd
Both weekends include a meet-and-greet with a real mermaid. Stay for the DJ dance party. Watch the live bubble shows. Listen to live ukulele and steel drum performances. For a fee, create a glittery ocean-and-mermaid-inspired slime and/or grab yourself a mermaid coloring poster to color on the spot. If you tend to prefer a more hands-on approach to education, visit the Junior Explorers Sensory Bin to learn more about the ocean.
All Month Long
As we stated above, visits get to enjoy various activities throughout Ventura Mermaid Month as well. Several shops in the village offer great specials. Enjoy ocean-inspired food and drink specials at the village’s restaurants. Stop by the Mermaid Gallery to pick up your scavenger sheet. Once you fill it out, bring it back to the gallery for fun prizes. And feel free to dress up as a mermaid, a pirate, or even your favorite sea creature whenever you visit Ventura Harbor Village in March.
County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade
St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) falls on a Monday this year. County officials host a parade on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day each year. That means that the parade takes place at 10 am on March 15th in downtown Ventura. The parade route starts at Lincoln Dr and continues along Main St to Fir.
