May 20th is National Pick Strawberries Day. We learned a few interesting facts about the strawberry that we would love to share. For example, did you know that the strawberry is actually part of the rose family? (The Rosacaeae family to be precise.) A cup of strawberries contains more Vitamin C than a medium orange. California grows approximately 80% of all strawberries produced in the entire United States. So, it makes sense that the Ventura Strawberry Festival takes place later this month.

Ventura Strawberry Festival 2024
This festival is one of the most popular festivals in Ventura County. One trip and you quickly understand why. More than 40 food vendors provide tantalizing takes on strawberry cuisine. They offer traditional treats like chocolate-dipped strawberries, funnel cake, margaritas, and smoothies. But they also offer more unique items using strawberries like nachos, tamales, pizza, popcorn, and even beer! Build your own shortcake for just $5. Whatever your palette wants, the festival provides. Just make sure to bring some cash with you. Food vendors only accept cash. ATMs will be made available at the venue if you forget.
In addition to the food vendors, organizers put together a very fun afternoon of entertainment. Peruse the goods created by local artists and artisans in the arts and crafts section of the festival. Listen to live music performed on any of the three stages throughout the fairground all day long. Try your skills at the Ninja Nation Obstacle Course. Don’t miss the Berry Baby Fashion Parade held at 10:45 am each day of the festival on the Family Fun Stage. Then, there’s Strawberry Land for the little kids and carnival rides for kids of all ages.
