Miscellaneous Mermaid Fun Throughout the Month
Several shops at the village offer up fun mermaid-themed merchandise. Barefoot Boutique and Casa de Regalos both have cute T-shirts and jewelry. Complete your outfit with ocean-themed footies at Lost in Socks. Find sea glass and cards at Harbor Village Gallery and Treasure Cove. Clean like a mermaid queen with handmade bath bombs and bar soap at Lemon & Lei. Want some mermaid-inspired artwork for your Ventura home? Pick something up at the Mermaid Gallery or the Ventura Pottery Gallery. Or if you want to see the sea like mermaids do, sign up for a dive lesson at Ventura Dive & Sport. And whenever you visit the Ventura Harbor Village this month, join the Mermaid Scavenger Hunt. Get your list at the Mermaid Gallery and then search for each item on the list. Once you find them all, turn your list back in to the gallery for your chance at fun prizes all month long.
The harbor’s food vendors get especially creative for Mermaid Month 2023. Coast Cone presents their yummy ice cream in fish-shaped cones all month long. Any mermaid (or merman) who shows up in costume at Top This Chocolate receives half off a chocolate pop. Sugar Lab Bake Shop cooks up some amazing mermaid-themed treats for the month, including cupcakes, cookies, and lotus drinks with a mermaid straw. For the adult mermaids and mermen, stop by the Deep Sea Wine Tasting Room to try some ocean-inspired wines.
Meet a Mermaid
On Sunday, March 19th, come meet a real live mermaid in person at the harbor. She happily poses for photos with anyone she meets between 12 pm and 3 pm. Just make sure you bring your camera with you for this one-of-a-kind photo shoot.
Mermaid Dance Party
How can a mermaid dance without legs? Come find out on March 19th. Before or after your photo-op at the “Meet a Mermaid” event, go to Channel Islands Courtyard. DJ Darla Bea gets the party going from noon to 3 pm with fun dance grooves you can shake your fins to. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their mermaid-y best for fun and prizes.
Surfrider Foundation Beach Clean-Up
Help keep mermaids’ habitat clean by joining the Surfrider Foundation for their annual beach clean-up at 10 am on March 19th. Each year, hundreds of volunteers comb local beaches to pick up trash left behind by visitors. You can help make our beaches cleaner and safer for humans as well as wildlife by volunteering your time, too.
Hair Braiding and Glittery Temporary Tattoos
After cleaning up the beaches but before the mermaid photo-op and dance party on March 19th, get a special mermaid braid and a pretty glittery (temporary) tattoo. Or get a face tattoo any mermaid or merman would love.
